View of north (river) elevation
The north walls of the gallery drop down into the water of the River Calder and form a new river edge, similar to the eighteenth century Calder and Hebble Navigation Warehouse located further upstream.
While the Calder and Hebble warehouse is made of York stone, the gallery will be constructed in a warm coloured fair-faced pigmented concrete.
Large windows will let northern light into the gallery spaces while providing visitors with views out over the River Calder.
