After the Second World War a number of influential artists began to visit St Ives in Cornwall on a regular basis.
This gallery explores the role these artists played in the development in post war abstraction as illustrated by the work of Trevor Bell, Alan Davie, Paul Feiler, Terry Frost, Adrian Heath, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton, William Scott and John Wells.
Although inspired by a region of the British Isles, the artists of the St Ives School were to gain international recognition.
This space also reflects important changes in the development of British sculpture during this period with important work by Reg Butler, Bernard Meadows and Elisabeth Frink on display.
