Hepworth Gallery

When Hepworth died in 1975 she left over 30 sculptures, mostly in plaster but also in metal and wood, in her studio in St Ives.

These vary in size from small ‘table top’ pieces to very large structures such as the 6-metre tall model for Winged Figure, 1961 - one of Hepworth's most high-profile public commissions.

A few are painted to look like bronze sculptures and there are some in aluminium, including the prototype for the dramatic Construction (Crucifixion), 1967.

The Trustees of the Hepworth Estate have presented this remarkable, and up until now rarely seen, collection to The Hepworth Wakefield. The sculptures will be shown together publicly for the very first time in a specially designed space.
