During 2006-7 five schools took part in the Building Bridges Project with Wakefield Art Gallery. The project aimed to make links with local schools who could help gallery staff design and develop ideas for the learning programme at The Hepworth Wakefield. Each school took part in outreach sessions, visits to the existing Wakefield Art Gallery, and art workshops led by professional artists. The results of their work were shown in an exhibition at Wakefield Art Gallery on Wentworth Terrace from 28 July to 9 September 2007.
The project was funded by Arts Council England and the Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts.
