During 2006-7 five schools took part in the Building Bridges Project with Wakefield Art Gallery. The project aimed to make links with local schools who could help gallery staff design and develop ideas for the learning programme at The Hepworth Wakefield. Each school took part in outreach sessions, visits to the Wakefield Art Gallery, and art workshops led by professional artists. The results of their work can be seen in an exhibition at Wakefield Art Gallery on Wentworth Terrace from 28th July to 9th September 2007.
The project is supported by co-funding partners The Prince of Wales Arts and Kids Foundation and Arts Council. The project has been so successful, it has secured 2nd year funding for 2007-8.
