The designs for The Hepworth Gallery were featured in the display by David Chipperfield Architects in the international pavilion at the 9th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice from 12 September - 7 November 2004.
The Architecture section of the famous Venice Biennale was established in 1980 and the eminent Swiss curator Kurt W. Forster directs this year's exhibition. He chose 'Metamorphosis' as the overall theme of the Biennale and invited David Chipperfield to display plans, designs and models of current projects in the Arsenale in Venice. The Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield is one of two projects by David Chipperfield in the exhibition.
