Professional photographer, Julian Flynn, is leading a fascinating workshop at Wakefield Art Gallery which explores the very origins of photography. Under his expert guidance, the participants make their own camera, learn how to use it to take pictures and then produce black and white prints using traditional techniques.
The workshop takes place at Wakefield Art Gallery on Thursday 4th August between 10.30am and 3.30pm. The workshop is FREE but a £5 deposit is required. Places are strictly limited and booking is essential.
The workshop complements the Summer exhibition ‘Light/Reflection’, an exhibition of new work by another professional photographer, Faye Chamberlain.
Faye has been commissioned to make photographic artwork in response to the site of Wakefield’s new gallery before building begins. The themes ‘Light’ and ‘Reflection’ have been inspired by the site’s most striking feature - the River Calder. Some of Faye’s photographs are a wonderful demonstration of what beautiful images can be created with a pin hole camera.
